Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. How much of the $25 Rotary plate fee goes to the Rotary Foundation?

A. The Rotary Foundation receives $15 and the State of Ohio receives $10. Since the Rotary plate’s inception in 1997, The Rotary Foundation has received over $90,000 from the Ohio Rotary Plate Program
.
Q. I just recently purchased my plate and would like to get my Rotary plate this year. Will the state of Ohio give me credit for the amount I just paid?

A. YES! Visit your local BMV or online and request a Rotary Plate. You will not be charged registration fees, rather only a New plate fee ($5), Rotary logo plate fee ($25), service fee, and postage will be applied. Your new Rotary Plate will be mailed to you within 5-7 business days.

Q. I lease my car. Can I still get a Rotary plate?

A. YES! Tell your lessor (bank, finance source, etc.) that you want to display Rotary plates and they will advise you.

Q. I presently have a reserved or personalized plate. Can I have that same number/letters on a new Rotary plate?

A. YES, as long as your current plate does not have more than six (6) characters including spaces.

Q. I heard the State of Ohio may discontinue the issuance of Rotary plates. Is that true? And if so, will I loose my current Rotary plate?

A. Rotarians in Ohio must annually purchase a minimum of (500) plates or it may be discontinued. If the plate were to be discontinued, there are provisions in State Law (a petition initiative) to re-establish the Rotary plate. Should that re-establishment effort fail, those with Rotary plates would be able to continue their use until the current plate is unusable or the main Ohio State Plate design becomes obsolete.

Q. How easy is it to renew the Rotary Plate?

A. Very easy, your renewal will be mailed to you from the State and you can renew by return mail, online, or visiting your local BMV.

Q. Are there different prices paid for Rotary Plates?

A. Yes, depending on the plate you choose. The fee for all Rotary plates is $25. However if you choose to personalize your Rotary plate you may be charged an additional fee. See this chart for help:
